As one of the leading recycling companies in Canada, we
gather and recycle thousands of items of medical equipment waste every year. A
huge number of our clients are doing their best to make sure that they are
protecting their nature by leaving obsolete pieces of medical equipment to us.
HPLC equipment, ultrasound machines, EKG modules, ECG modules, infusion pumps,
skin treatment lasers, electric stimulation units, laparoscopy equipment, gas chromatographs and defibrillators are
some examples of medical equipment we are collecting and recycling at our
plant.
It doesn’t really matter what kind of medical equipment you
have we are here to help you. There are many people who are interested about I global and our process for Laboratory
and Medical equipment Recycling. They want to know what’s going on once
the equipment is collected.
Once we come to an agreement that you need collection,
everything is left to us. We will send a driver and few team members to arrive
at your site. They will pick up the medical equipment that is no longer needed
and load the truck. When the truck is loaded it heads back to our private
recycling facility where the waste is recycled. The recycling process is a
little bit complex.
The vast majority of medical equipment waste consists of
sophisticated devices and pieces of equipment. Almost all this waste is
processed with the help of a recycling system known as Waste Electrical and
Electronic Equipment or WEEE. This system recycles up to 98% of the waste by
weight of every piece of obsolete
equipment that goes through it. In addition, thanks to this system, the
management of any medical facility can rest assured that the data found on any
of these devices and equipment is completely destroyed and inaccessible. This
is very important for the privacy of the patients and users.
In the beginning, all the medical items are manually sorted
and copper and batteries removed for control. Next, the items are shredded into
very small pieces for more precise sorting. At this point, the data destruction
process is finished. After the first size reduction comes to the secondary size reduction where the tiny debris is
shaken well on the conveyor belt to get an even
surface. If there is dust in these pieces, it is extracted without harming the
environment. We then use special magnets to remove iron and steel from the
shredded pieces. The next step is to divide the content into two categories –
metallic which includes brass, copper, aluminum, silver and other metals and
non-metallic content. Obviously, the metallic content can be reused for new
products. Thanks to water separation glass and plastic content are separated
too.
Medical equipment recycling is a complex process, but I
Global is a recycling company with experience and qualified team of specialists
in this field that can get the job done quickly. It’s also worth mentioning
that we are using the latest techniques in this field for more efficient medical
equipment recycling.
Excellent initiative, we do not take such issues seriously and dumb medical equipments without knowing it can cause harm to nature and health as well.
